The Comfort Zone

Maybe you are feeling sad, joyful, or just taking a break between all the hours of your day—I have no idea—but what I want to tell you is that it’s worth stepping out of your comfort zone. The discomfort that making your body exercise, or asking/inquiring causes to your mind, is basically leaving the comfort zone, a place where you might feel peace and security.

The Trap of Monotony We definitely need security and peace; they are vital. But if we aren’t careful, we will fall into the trap and be led into a monotony that doesn’t help our brain and body. Regarding this topic, I will leave you links to books or YouTube videos that discuss it. Don't believe me; research it. Your life depends on it.

Living Awake or Like a ‘Zombie’ Perhaps it sounds drastic to say that our life depends on it, but I don't think I'm exaggerating. We can live like "Zombies," only working, paying rent, eating, and continuing to repeat the cycle, so to speak. The pandemic forced us into confinement, and for me at least, it led to a discomfort in the lockdown that prompted me to: Go out for walks in the early morning. Start practicing meditation and breathing exercises (which I used to dismiss). Realize (or feel) that I can achieve more than I have so far. And so on, leading me to a series of events that I have enjoyed and learned from.

Reevaluating and Redefining That discomfort has made me reevaluate, redefine, and open the eyes of my soul to a different way of living. I continue to question, rearrange, and even though I haven't reached the discipline I hope to have, every habit I change will yield results. For the moment, I think I’m on the right track:

I smile more. I identify my fears and, with more awareness, I dare to face them. I have hope for the future; I know I can face it. I'm less naive (I hope, lol). My health has improved. I can hug longer, look at myself, and tell myself, “I can do it!” One of the advantages we have as human beings is the ability to correct.

Start Now!

Do you want to exercise? Climb a mountain? Write your book? Find peace with a situation in your life? Learn to surf? Get married? Travel? Play the guitar? What do I know! Start where you are, with what you have, but start. You learn along the way. Don't wait until you have everything perfect; otherwise, you'll end up, as they say in my house, “like a country bride, dressed up and excited” (without ever finalizing the plan).

!! Get out of your comfort zone!! What is your dream? Write to me.
